Microsoft Commercial cloud offers cybersecurity features for select compliance laws but is not compliant for the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Covered Defense Information (CDI), or Controlled Technical Information (CTI). Nor is it compliant for DoD contractors subject to CMMC or DFARS 252.204-7012. Commercial migration is best for:
- Companies only handling Federal Contract Information (FCI).
- Companies whose contracts only require a FedRAMP compliant cloud.
- Companies sending, receiving, accessing, and storing all Government sensitive information using a compliant end-to-end encryption service.
- Companies looking to leverage bundled cloud solutions for cost savings and efficiency compared to on-premises and third-party solutions.
Microsoft GCC cloud meets some, but not all CUI requirements. GCC migration is best for:
- Companies that do not expect the compliance requirements for the data they handle to change in the future.
- Companies needing the minimum compliance for DoD contracts.
- Companies with no Export Control (ex. ITAR, EAR, U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Sovereignty, NOFORN) requirements.
Microsoft GCC High cloud is the most compliant Microsoft environment available to DoD and Federal contractors. GCC High migration is best for:
- Companies looking to meet all current and future requirements for data protection and compliance.
- Companies with Export Control (ex. ITAR, EAR, U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Sovereignty, NOFORN) requirements.
